Hudson River Park River Project

FAO Schwarz Fellowship Application

Instructions

Please review the following before submitting your application. All applications are due before February 1, 2025, at 9:00 PM ET. Applications received after that date will not be considered. We strongly encourage you to apply at least a few days before the deadline.

1. CONFIRM YOUR ELIGIBILITY

There are two requirements for eligibility. Applications from ineligible candidates cannot be accepted or acknowledged.

First, you must be legally authorized to work in the U.S. for the duration of the two-year Fellowship.

U.S. citizens, born or naturalized, are generally authorized to work in the United States, while foreign nationals may be authorized if they have an immigration status that allows them to work. The Fellowship cannot assist you in obtaining work authorization.

Second, you must be on track to graduate in good standing with a bachelor’s degree from an accredited four-year college or university between December 2024 and Spring 2025.

2. PREPARE REQUIRED UPLOADS

Prepare a résumé (1 page) and a cover letter (1 to 1.5 pages long). You must upload your résumé and a cover letter (PDF) as part of the application.

Answer these questions in your cover letter:

  • Why are you interested in being an FAO Schwarz Fellow?
  • Why are you interested in being the FAO Schwarz Fellow with this host organization?
  • Describe an aspect of this host’s mission or work that engages you.
  • What background and experiences would you bring to the direct service and special project work at this organization?

Use your name to title your PDF documents as follows.

3. COMPLETE THE APPLICATION FORM

The form requests contact information, eligibility confirmation, and short answers to a few brief questions. You must also upload your documents to the form.

Include your college’s Federal Title IV  ID code—the same code used for many common forms and applications. If you do not know your college code, you can look it up by clicking the button below. The look-up will open in another window.

4. CLICK SUBMIT

You will receive a pop-up confirmation if your submission was successful and an email confirmation a bit later.

Applying for Multiple Fellowship Positions

You may apply for more than one Fellowship position. Submit a new application for each position you wish to apply for. Applications are considered individually and independently by the host organizations.

What happens next...

Host organizations will review applications carefully. They will notify candidates advancing to the Semifinalist by the end of February about interviews.

After Semifinalist interviews are complete, Hosts will select candidates for a Finalists round in the second half of March. The Fellowship also shares the Finalist designation with candidates’ colleges.

Hosts then select their Fellows and notify Finalists of their decision at the end of April.
