The FAO Schwarz Fellowship is an intensive, transformative two-year experience in the world of social impact that includes focused professional development. Our Fellows are highly motivated, passionate recent college graduates who are committed to social justice.
Successful candidates have proven academic excellence, demonstrated leadership in their college communities and are eager to immerse themselves in a two-year experience that will challenge them, train them and empower them with the skills and network they need to take a first step towards leadership in the world of social impact.
How to Apply
Applications open each year in early November when we announce new Fellowship positions and hosts. Prospective Fellows apply directly to host organizations—not to the Fellowship. The application requires a cover letter, responses to a few simple questions, and a résumé.
Complete instructions are included on each host’s page after Nov 1.
Host organizations screen resumes and applications, conduct interviews with candidates, and ultimately select their Fellow. Successful applicants are notified during the month of April.
We encourage you to learn as much as possible about the host organizations and review the Fellowship positions that interest you carefully before applying.
Online Info Sessions
We host online info sessions and “Ask Me Anything” events throughout the year for interested students and college and career services advisers who want to learn more about the Fellowships. We strongly urge prospective Fellows to attend an info session.
Please join us by selecting a date and registering in advance. We’ll send you an email with a zoom link you’ll need to join the session.
Applicants must be college seniors at accredited four-year institutions at the time of application and be eligible to work in the United States for the duration of the Fellowship.
We announce the new Fellowship positions and host organizations. Application period opens.
Common application deadline for all Fellowship positions due by 11:59 pm ET.
Hosts interview selected candidates by the end of the month.
Host organizations send decisions to applicants and complete the selection process.
