BOSTON — November 1, 2024. The FAO Schwarz Family Foundation announces that five new paid two-year Fellowships in social impact hosted by leading nonprofit organizations are now open for applications.
"The Fellowship is designed to help young leaders become the best version of themselves. The FAO Schwarz Family Foundation has always supported young people in their desire and potential to create a better world."
Priscilla Cohen, Executive Director, FAO Schwarz Fellowship
The Fellowship program is the perfect opportunity for new college graduates interested in social impact careers to join organizations that are deeply committed to equity and social justice. Through a combination of strategic project work, direct service, and leadership opportunities, Fellows gain first-hand experience creating change and learning how leading nonprofits enact measurable and lasting progress.
Priscilla Cohen, Executive Director, FAO Schwarz Family Foundation, said, “The Fellowship is designed to help young leaders become the best version of themselves. The FAO Schwarz Family Foundation has always supported young people in their desire and potential to create a better world.”
Eligible applicants must be college seniors graduating from accredited four-year institutions between December 2024 and June 2025, and must also be eligible to work in the United States for the duration of the two-year Fellowship.
The Fellowship roles are uniquely designed in partnership with each host organization, ensuring the Fellow gains the opportunity to explore different approaches to addressing social challenges and develop professional skills that will help them launch successful, lasting careers in social impact.
The host organizations selected for the 2025-2027 cohort are Boston Collegiate Charter School (Boston), Hudson River Park’s River Project (New York City), iMentor (New York City)—all first-time hosts—and Museum of Science (Boston) and Trust for Public Land (Philadelphia), both of which are returning hosts. They will each host one new Fellow. Learn more about each role by visiting the links.
Tim Ritchie, President of Museum of Science, shared “The Museum of Science is thrilled to welcome an FAO Schwarz Fellow to our team of educators. Our fellows work directly with schools, families, and public audiences of all ages, helping to inspire the next generation of STEM leaders. They are invaluable partners, deepening our connection to the community, enriching our educational offerings, and increasing accessibility to STEM education, all of which helps further our mission to inspire a lifelong love of science in everyone.”
The five Fellowships for 2025-2027 include direct service opportunities in STEM and environmental education, tutoring, mentorship and college access and more. e. Fellows will engage in key projects that include identifying and sharing educational innovations, developing case studies to demonstrate impact, strengthening community engagement and partnerships, and more.
Fellows who start their Fellowship during the summer of 2025 will receive total compensation of approximately $105,000 (Boston and New York) or $95,000 (Philadelphia) plus benefits and professional development over the course of the two-year Fellowship.
Selection is competitive and by application. Since the Fellowship’s founding in 2006, there have been 80 FAO Schwarz Fellows. Forty-three percent have accepted roles with their host organizations at the completion of their Fellowship, 63 percent have gone on to graduate and professional education programs, and 91 percent continue to work in the social impact sector.
Applications are due by February 1, 2025 at 9:00 pm ET. Interested students can apply online at the Fellowship website and are strongly encouraged to attend one of the Fellowship’s online info sessions.
